KARL ROWE: “Mr. President, we need to develop an exit strategy for our forces in Iraq ASAP. Otherwise we'll be caught in the middle of a civil war between the Shiites and the Sunnis”.
PRESIDENT BUSH: “How do you expect me to break this to the media and the American people after saying we're in this War on Terrorism for the long haul? It'll make me look like I've got no meatballs between my legs”.

KARL ROWE: “We've got to try and set up this puppet regime ASAP and then put on the vanishing cream. Otherwise the GOP is up shit creek without a paddle in 2008. Our deficit has ballooned to $175 trillion with no end in sight. It's a hole we can't dig ourselves out of (…) Hail to the Chief"!

2.The Bush administration is said to have a new playbook, with a more inclusive attitude toward critics and an openness to skeptical debate:
"They may be with you for the first shots," Rove said of such opponents. "But they're not going ... to be with you for the tough battles."

Rove made similarly blunt points about the war. He defended the administration's decision to invade Iraq by laying out Saddam Hussein's "vital interest" in acquiring advanced weapons technology.

"We were absolutely right" to remove him, Rove said of the former leader. He added, "We have no excuses to make for it."
Rove singled out Kerry by reading quotes from before the war in which the senator expressed support for an invasion, and then making a joke about him being for the invasion before he was against it.
